03-04-19 Supplmental Public Comment Tom Hill Suggestions for Improving SMV Pedestrian Pathway Tom Hills / Chris Condon / Larry Thorsen Creekside March 4,2019 Revisiting and expanding on original POSTR pedestrian pathway between Upper and Lower Village - Snowmass Village Concern: Existing pathway is dangerous & disorienting for our visitors 1 - People riding unfamiliar bicycles (rentals) who are unfamiliar with terrain challenges 2 - Bicyclists descend on a step grade down Carriage Rd. 3 - Left turn into Lot 4 (sometimes with heavy traffic) 4 - Riding against "the grain" of parked cars (riders are in blind spot of vehicles backing up) 5 - Descent down another steep grade and make to 90 degree turns 6 - Short section of safety - time to make adjustments then 7 - Through another parking lot 8 - Another steep descent down to a bridge with a sudden rise. 9 - Sidewalk bumpy and narrow with people side by side w/ dogs (could remain dog walking path) Proposal: Create multiuse pathway along west side of Brush Creek Rd with divider 1 - People avoid severe grades and stay spatially oriented with maps. Gentle descent. 2 - Three bus stops in a row all linked seamlessly / Rim trail access 3 - Most direct and visual connection between Upper Vlg & Town Center (TC) 4 - Expanded proposal also link Top of Village 5 - Can tie into proposed bridge from TC over to Base Village area 6 - People are already using this pathway, even though there is limited room.
